About the Humanistic Management Network Zimbabwe Chapter
The world today has converged into a global village with innovation, growth of free markets, and a global economy being at the centre of this convergence. More people across national boundaries and regions are working together to promote sustainable development and business growth by promoting good corporate governance, responsible business conduct, ethical business practices, meeting the needs of the vulnerable, and encouraging respect for human rights, rule of law, and the natural environment.
With increasing urgency, market and social forces are rewriting the roles and responsibilities of business. Though the profit motive of business is understood and accepted, people across regions no longer accept it as an excuse for ignoring the basic norms, values, and standards of responsible business conduct. Modern businesses are expected to be responsible stewards of community resources working towards the growth and success of both their companies and communities in which they do business.
The purpose of Humanistic Management Network Zimbabwe Chapter is thus; to promote sustainable business growth and community development through robust engagement with all stakeholders; and this we achieve by helping businesses in propagating responsible business conduct, responsible corporate citizenship, ethical business practices, protecting the natural environment, creating safety nets for the marginalized and vulnerable, and encouraging respect for human rights, rule of law, and individual property rights.

ELMECG 2022 in Harare on 16 - 17 June 2022
On 16-17 June 2022 Ethics Institute Zimbabwe in collaboration with Ethics & Compliance Initiative (ECI) will host a unique 2-day Ethical Leadership, Managerial Ethics, Compliance and Corporate Governance round-table in Harare, Zimbabwe, dubbed ELMECG 2022. The purpose of this round-table is to give credence and leverage to Ethics & Compliance and the prestigious Leadership Professional in Ethics & Compliance Certification (LPEC) for ethical leadership development in Zimbabwe.
The Humanistic Management Network’s Zimbabwe Chapter is pleased to be associated with this important business gathering as it dovetails with its purpose, which is to promote sustainable business growth, national development, responsible corporate citizenship, including creating safety nets for the marginalized and vulnerable, and encouraging respect for human rights, rule of law, and individual property rights.

Business Ethics Awards Reception (BEAR) in Harare on 8 October 2021
Zimbabwe is set to host its first ever Business Ethics Awards Reception (BEAR) in Harare on 8 October 2021. Ethics Institute Zimbabwe (EIZ), an HMN partner is organizing the event.The objectives of the ethics awards are;
- To assess the extent to which businesses are complying with the ethical requirements of ZIMCODE, the Public Entities Corporate Governance Act, and international best practices.
- To encourage companies to embrace strong ethical practices as part of their governance and management ecosystems.
- To promote Ethical Leadership as a key factor in corporate governance and responsible management practices.
- To raise awareness and uptake of strong ethics in both public and private sector entities, and the economy at large.
Mr. Bradwell Mhonderwa, who is co-Leader of HMN Zimbabwe Chapter, is the Executive Director of Ethics Institute Zimbabwe.

New Publication: Unleashing Blue Sky Thinking
This book by our Zimbabwe Chapter co-lead Mufaro Gunduza aims to provide the 21st century business leader with the requisite rites of passage to discover their hidden and unrealized potential so that they begin to unleash it in their day to day work life. It provides simple yet genius solutions to the myriad situations corporate stewards face as they seek to create value for their organizations. A number of new concepts are introduced in the book. These include ‘thinking without the box’, ‘thinking wide and wild’, brinnovation (breakthrough innovation), winnovation (winning innovation) and co-opetition (creation of business synergies even among competitors). It introduces new theories of business intelligence drawn from nature such as the spider’s web theory, the eagle theory, the giraffe theory and the zebra theory to name just a few. The book furthermore, underscores the importance of guerrilla research methods especially when classical research formulas fail or are inadequate.
